In cooperation with scientists, Latvian manufacturers are creating unique, innovative products with high added value that are able to compete with companies in both the EU and worldwide. Thanks to the efforts of local entrepreneurs, this industry is one of the most competitive in Latvia and it has high exportability.
Refined petroleum products, paints, varnishes, soaps, perfumes, adhesives, glass fibre, rubber and plastics products are particularly visible and valued, as are pharmaceutical and food additives.
Pharmaceuticals are the most exported products from Latvia — 27% of total industry exports, followed by 22% plastics and 5% glass fibre.
Average investment in the industry is EUR 4-15 million.
